I had an email a couple of weeks or so back from someone in Barcelona. “Where is this going”, I hear you say? Well, it turns out that María José, said person, was searching on “Trouble with Lichen” on Wikipedia and my image from climbing 07, my 2007 climbing calendar, of Sam Whittaker climbing Trouble with Lichen HVS 5b at Bamford popped up in her browser.

It’s a funny old world isn’t it? Turns out that María José is not only someone who knows her lichens but is also a climber. Hence my image is now embedded on her blogspot at http://sironagatta.blogspot.com/ along with loads of climbing images. Check out the entry from the 11th June. Personally, I don’t speak Italianio so I’m proper stumped as to what it’s all about.

To be honest it left me wondering about the kinds of lichen we have here in the UK. Within a few clicks I was looking at Mike Sutcliffe’s site at http://www.uklichens.co.uk/index.html. Wouldn’t you know it but there a whole bunch of stuff to know about lichen. Next time I’m out and about, I’ll see what I can see - probably…

Here’s a screen shot from María José’s blogspot…
