It’s July, Cliffhanger has been and gone so it must be ‘Be in my Calendar Competition’ time! UKClimbing are sponsoring a page in Climbing:2011 and want YOU to appear in all your glory on their page. So it’s time to get cracking, answer a few easy questions and stand by for the eyes of the climbing world to feast their eyes on your awesomeness...

If the past ‘be in my climbing calendar’ competitions haven’t been on your radar before (in which case - where have you been??) then here’s the skinny. Climbing:2011 will be published in the autumn and the winner of this competition will be featured on the UKClimbing page of Climbing:2011. As the winner YOU will be photographed specially for the occasion by me at a suitably awesome, unique/different (delete as applicable) venue providing you are:

·        an experienced rock climber capable of leading rock routes of V Diff upwards

·        available during August thru early September for a photo shoot and

·        bring a sac of kit and mate along to climb with you and encourage you on to great things.

In detail…

  • The comp winner (in addition to appearing in the calendar…) will also get a complementary 18x12” poster print (of a photo of their choice) from the photo shoot as well as a copy of Climbing:2011
  • The winner’s mate will get a copy of Climbing:2011
  • A selection of images from the day will be published in a gallery on UKClimbing in a write-up of the day as well as being well and truly blogged on KSP
  • Five further copies of Climbing:2011, one each for the five runners-up

The closing deadline/date is midnight on Saturday 7th August 2010 so it’s time to get cracking!

To get the competition questions, get the low down on how to enter and check-out the small print - a.k.a. the comp rules – get along to www.ukclimbing.com or click through this link http://www.ukclimbing.com/news/item.php?id=56954 to go direct to the competition page.

This is the third year of this competition has run so if you haven’t made it yet now’s the time to get stuck-in and join the hall of fame that includes previous winners Rachael Crewe and Ally Smith. The weather for Rachael’s shoot in 2008 was pretty rubbish but we still managed to get some great shots at Stoney and Stanage late in the day after a morning supping tea and eating scones in the Outside cafe! Last year’s shoot went way better, thanks to more accommodating weather, over at Craig Arthur.

Here’s links to the write-up of both days:

Good luck and hope to see YOU for the photo shoot… Meanwhile, here are the calendar shots off Rachael and Ally strutting their stuff...
