Peak Cavern in Castleton proudly proclaims itself to be the Devil’s Arse. Last Sunday, as ongoing prep for our forthcoming wee caving trip, we duly entered said Devil’s Arse with a clutch of sacs of camera kit with the specific intention of testing some new electronic wizardry and filling a card full of images…

Five hours later we re-emerged into a very wet and soggy Castleton with the objective duly nailed. Time had flown and we'd pretty much cracked everything we tried. We didn’t get too hung up on the caving itself but for those interested we hacked it down to just past Squaws’ Junction and then worked our way back. Here’s a selection of the shots in which Tim features rather heavily! Firstly then, thanks very much to Tim for being so patient and secondly, note to self, take more models next trip!

Photo boffins, might be interested to know that the shots were captured using a combination of strobes (up to three) triggered by Pocket Wizards/Nikon’s CLS system as well as bulb shots with a combination of self-triggered strobes plus light-painting. More on all that probable in a PoTM post…
